Cinema

It seems I lost day 9, but it was simple. We decided to try to go to the movie. Midnight in Paris, by Woody Allen, is playing here  and the often scheme is that it is in English with French subtitles. I picked out a cinema over by Opera to give us a walk, we stopped by Parc Monceau, that I had read about in Lunch in Paris, where we found runners galore, teens picnicking and families relaxing. We worked our way to the market Sabine seemed to indicate was worthwhile. It was fine, but I was disappointed that it was a fairly permanent type structure, not the outdoor, bring your produce-for-the-day type deal. We decided to work our way towards the cinema via L'Opera, where we stopped and I inquired about tickets, but either could get no view seats at 25 euros or orchestra at 140euro each. When I inquire about Opera Bastille, I was told that the cheapest tickets were 105 euro. So we opted to wait rather than buy. I asked about the arrive-the-night-of technique, but she was not encouraging.

Sacred Trinity

We continued on to Blvd Italiens, but in arrival the megaplex revealed no Minuit en Paris. I asked the cashier, et Non, I asked if she could tell where it was, but a kindly Non. So we we meandered back to the two churches we had bypassed, Sacred Trinity and St Antoine, the latter donned in flowers presumably for an upcoming wedding, and then back to the market for onion soup ingredients. I have read it is a winter dish, but it has been cool in the evening.
On return to the flat it seems we may have been off by 1/2 a block I thought I looked around, but ...So we set out to see it on our nearby Champs E. but arriving 15 minutes early, it was sold out!
So a loop around Arc de Triomphe. I didn't feel the need to climb. and then back and onion soup.
We had made the stock in between movie excursions, two chicken legs with the thigh, an onion, carrot, pepper, and bouillon cube. then we chopped 2 onions and sauteed in olive oil till brown and wilted. We sliced bread and toasted and melted cheese on top. The toast in the bowl, the broth now with onions on top, C'est magnifique!
We all turned to our reading material and turned in. I finally opened Madame Bovary and got through the first chapter.
