Day 2 and 1/2

The plan for this am was to wake early enough to make it to Musee d'Orsay by 9:30, but given that we hit our pillows at 2 am, not surprisingly it didn't work.
Ma fille est still dans sa lit (in her bed, oops just up!)
Mom and I are downing le cafe. We have the French Press
or espresso machines, but the coffee jar is empty today, so we sill use the espresso.
It never is the same as at the cafe??? I'll have to learn to perfect it.
That also goes for french onion soup, Erin had the greatest bowl last evening. She said it was like no stateside bowl, even from Providence's Pot au Feu Restaurant.
Another goal for the month, perfect French onion soup, but in the summer?
Actually it is quite cool here as compared to home, especially if home is where I grew up, Maryland. There is some brilliant sunny warmth in the middle of the day, but cool evenings, rather like Nantucket. If I say great sleeping weather, I will sound old and I still have 42 days to 50. Mom and I have raved about the wonderful simplicity of our meals.
Lunch spot south of La madeleine
Last night she had a salad of cooked ham on a base of cantaloupe and watermelon, and then arugula and green beans with a dijon dressing! Fabulous! I had opted for the escargots, yummy. For lunch Erin had a croque monsieur with 3 slices of bread, each thin, the first with emantaler cheese and ham, then the second with ham and tomato, and then the last slice of bread with cheese all of this grilled and to complete an egg sunny side up so to speak, Delicous! Another snack to master!!
Off to make espresso, another culinary challenge to master,... in only 6 weeks, better get steaming
